I think I’m the same as you. I get up each morning and do things. Actually, some days I get up and do nothing, but that’s okay. I do the things I like to do, like laugh with my brother or admire the way the sunlight filters through the leaves for a moment. I also do the things I don’t like to do, because sometimes that has to happen in order to get to the good stuff. As I’ve grown, I’ve come to appreciate these less glamorous tasks, because they are a part to the whole. The creative process of my life is not linear or finite. It doesn't necessarily begin with inspiration or end with a product. Creation is cyclical and ongoing.

All of it is equally important to building the person I want to be, the life I want to live, and the things I want to create. That is why every single moment of my life is spent absorbing and processing the world around me, both consciously and subconsciously. I consciously notice how different types of light interact with various objects and subconsciously absorb the surrounding smells, sounds, feelings, sensations, and everything in between. The process is longer than we can imagine and can sometimes be more difficult than feels possible. It can be really hard to see how some of the most fucked up parts of the process actually contribute to the most beautiful parts, but it’s important to remember that these two, like all things, are delicately interconnected. Things are the way they are.

And they are that way for two reasons. One of those reasons is chance. The second reason for the way things are is because you and the people around you make it so. Every moment of existence has built to this one right now, and in this present moment I am grateful for all of these moments and the opportunity to just say "Fuck it - I'ma go bake a loaf of banana bread and eat two thirds of it."

"It all has to come from the  inside"
